Improve z750 brakes
Improve z750 brakes
Is there any way to improve the brakes on the z750 the twin piston setup is crap. I have braided lines on. Would using a better brake pad make any difference? If so does anyone have an idea of the proffered pad?
I was thinking of changing the calipers to four pot ones from a wreaker, if its cost affective, does anyone know of what can fit on the z750.

Track days, at the moment is the only thing I have been using it for, I will be on my tenth one at the end of this month.
I would love to upgrade but don’t have the finances.
I have to admit I have ridden a Honda CBR 600 with radial brakes and they were great. The last two bikes I owned had Brembos.
I can’t really compare them to some other bike. I was just hopping for more power and at a cost affective way of getting it.
By the sounds of it I cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
Who needs brakes anyway their for wooses.

Try a set of race pads ($90 to $140 a pair) that you only fit during track days is the way to go and a cheaper alternate. In the long long run it will shorten your disk life because of the sintered compound in them.
Either way man it means money

Just me thoughts on a pondering troublsom solution that has many answers!

Very true! Personaly theres 2 things I don't go cheap on, brakes and tyres. Simply cause I can afford'em and I like living on this god forsaken planet.
Ok lets work this out based on a 4km track. 5 sessions in the day and you cover the track in 1min 50sec - 20min sessions. 50 to 55km a session. 275km a trackday roughly.
You would then get just over 7 trackdays in before replacing the pads. Not bad if you ask me for paying only $100!
But think this, would you put Shinko's on your bike or Pilot Powers...........for a trackday!
Me, I'd get the real deal. Little bit like would you like to fly first class sir or sit down the back with the others.
cheers

race pads dont last long, I chewed a set in less than 2000k's.
Its not how big they are it's how you use it!

Are you sure it's not 20,000km road use! I think there's something wrong with your brakes if you go through pads in 2000km. I do't think anyone would see that usage!
Dosn't seem right................."normal road use" Have a set in the blade that lasted 30,000km with trackdays at ECx1 PIx3 IRx1 thrown in for good meaqsure. Have just changed em for a PI trackday for a friend about 4 weeks ago!

stiffening up the front end "suspenders" can go a long way to improving braking also.
Hows the front end?

yeah. I had the bendix race pads, they looked a copper colour and were incredibly stoppy. like endo stoppy.
I was blown away at how quickly they wore out! I took the bike back to the shop where i bought em at 1,600 k's when they had nearly gone, and said "this aint right", and they laughed at me
and said, "well you asked for race pads"
