Got Screwed

not just talking about paying to much for my bike,

Got home from my holiday early to have sunday off before work and go for a ride and I picked up a one inch screw, well i found it yesterday anyway. right in the middle of the tyre in the tread gap.

I had to pump it up twice over 2 15km trips. had to pull up a bit hard and the back wheel was rolling round like jelly on a blow up mattress. interesting tho.

just curious if its worth getting a new tyre. the tyre has only done around 1000kms. should i patch it? take it to the shop and get them to patch it up with some nice hot rubber or get a new tyre? have a small lack of funding atm due to car rego and bike insurance.

being sunday, no one is open wasn't happy.

you can get it plugged as long as it didn't damage the side wall, but you will have to rember its just a rubber plug and some glue so go easy on it (ok for commuting but do go scratchin or track days on it )

I know your pain, 2 holes in a week, I would say if the tyre was slipping/rolling around the rim you would have injured the side wall and likely the whole structure of it.
Get a new tyre for sure, if you are in a tight spot a plug will do for a short while but go careful really careful, anyway for someone to remove the tyre, plug n patch from the inside and refit,balance, and install on your bike is time consuming and will cost you a bit in the end.
A new rear tyre should be easily be bought for $240 anyway. Ask anyone they will tell you where in Brisbane.

it wasn't on the rim. just flat. to around the level that the tread was nearly flat on the ground. nothing more then that.

I'd pull the tyre off. gotta learn sometime and i've got some friends with a tyre remover. hopefully i can get out of this soon. i want to go for a ride now... work sucks too....

i got it plugged and there were no dramas what so ever. just make sure u get the better qual plug, not cheap versions

I was told that it is illegal to ride with a patched front tyre, simply becoz it's not safe.

Which part of BNE are u at?

I had 2 in the same tyre at the same time...

I gave it to a mate at ProHonda and he fixed it... Then he went to ride it home and found the second one...

You can have it patched using a plug from the inside of the tyre.
They take the tyre of the rim and glue a plug and base in from the inside.
I did this to my 7 and it was fine for the rest of the tyres life, including a couple of track days...

No one will tell you its ok though, too many liability issues...

I had a plug in the front of the Zephyr and it never had any problems, including fast (well as fast as I can go anyway) road riding.

dropped it off this morning for them to have a look but most likely plug. pick it up this afternoon.
