Yamaha announce 2006 line up

Post by aardvark »

OK, I'm not sure what the deal is. Firstly Suzuki release the '05 Gixxer thou with an ugly can, then Kwakka announce the new 10 with two ugly cans and now the new R6???

yuk!
good work flash on getting the 05 model.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Burn the Europeans! Oh hang on, I'm a Pommie

That R6 looks very very tasty

That stubby exhaust is a bit crap and would have to go but it's no where near as bad as the FZ1 dustbin or the huge rockets on the new ZX10 :!:
Motorcycle's are inherently unstable...

Is it really that hard to make a bloody exhaust that looks reasonable.

Surely the design brief is something like...

Make it round or oval, definitely not triangular (BMW already had a crack at that and it looked shit), put it at the back of the bike and point the end of it way up high so that it finishes just under the blinkers. If you want you can make it out of Titanium, Alloy, Carbon Fibre or Stainless (don't really give a shit). Now off you go like a good chap and knock me up a drawing......

When the bloke comes back with something that looks like any of the above surely you just smack him around the head and get the next bloke to do it properly.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

According to http://www.motorcycledaily.com, the new R6 revs to 17,500rpm.

Maybe some interest in the aftermarket exhaust market from the big guys...?
Make a bike with a crap exhaust, trademark some kinda of fitment, market the design to aftermarket manufacturers... scored.
ZXR"900" - In pieces... again.
Another engine gone but at least the purple and pink are still there, oh yeah.

i'd say it would have more to do with the design of the bikes

for instance making the lines of the bike & everything else so angular and defined - putting a circular or oval can on it - from a design point of view - wouldnt make sense

probably got alot to do with the lean angle that can also be achieved by putting a funny looking 'short' can on too. never mind the weight reduction by not having a full sized one

There is a marketing theory that you sell better with something that creates controversy (i.e. ugly-duckling appearance).

is this YSRC or sumfing? musta logged onto the wrong site.....
eh, the R6 looks good (nothing a few aftermarket mods wouldn't cure). that's not just one air scoop on the left hand side is it? (i'm guessing the angle of the pic covered the "hole" for the RH one?)

and the R1 looks cool too. same ol same ol really....
guess i gotta wait until the next upgrades across the board.... '08???
