Z1R D3 Tank cap

Post by 750 R1 »

I posted this in the wanted section and I'll post it here for a bit more coverage.
I'm chasing a Z1R D3 fuel cap, I'm turning my old 750 R1 into moriwaki replica/ tribute of Wayne Gardner's Moriwaki monster, I knew there were two different tanks but never knew that there were at least 3 different caps, 4 if you include the odd ball German market bike. I bought a cap a few months back that cost me a small fortune and that was when I realised that there were two different large tank caps. I have an excellent condition D2 cap and there's no way to make it fit, so if anyone has a spare D3 cap I would love to buy it...

Thanks all A couple of pics of my project as it is at the moment... The GPZ looks clean but it was a 20 foot bike.....

Brad Smith adapted a cap from a D2 to a D3 I think? He had to push the mounting bolts back about 4mm or something, apparently works fine ?

Hi Gos, I'd love to know how he did that, the front lock/latch section is about 10mm too long, so the cap won't come close to sealing, also as you stated, the screw holes on the hinge are off as well. I'd love to see pictures of what he did... Would you have a contact for Brad, I'd love to have a chat with him about....
