zzr 1200 drops revs in 3rd

Post by bairdy10859 »

hi i have a zzr 1200 with a small problem im hoping someone can help with. Problem is when riding along in 3rd i lose revs for a second then back to normal with a slight jerk as power kicks back in. It is a constant problem that happens regularly. usually between 2500 and 3000 rpm while cruising at 50km/h. it doesn't happen in any other gear. Also when dropping bike of center stand when idling in neutral it stalls. Any help greatly appreciated

That really sounds like electrical problem?

How about checking all possible grounding points (e.g. from batteries, side stand switch, etc.)

"... my gear selector is bit bent and 3rd is knackered. looking at 10hr job plus parts...."

So perhaps it pops out of gear for a bit? It would then increase the revs, I would have thought?

Perhaps get a 2nd opinion on this.

I think it sounds electrical, for it only happens in 3rd and not in the same rev range in other gears. Does your side standwork correctly, could it be the stand switch and neutral sencer getting confused in 3rd?
