Now that the H2R is out...
Now that the H2R is out...
...and the opposition is shaking in its boots, what class would the H2R race in, and how long would it be before that class rules out forced induction?

Re: Now that the H2R is out...
I'm no expert, but I think a ZX10R would still beat a H2R around a track

On corner entry probably but exit and any kind of sweeping corner or anything slightly straight H2 would eat it.

Would lose too much under brakes, corner entry, side to side change, etc... very unlikely a 10R wouldn't lap faster unless you have a ridiculously long straight.

Well lets say phillip island, the 10r would be toast.I took the H2 to broadford which would be one of the worst tracks for it and without going over 60% and leaving plenty in reserve both for the rider and especially the bike and it acquitted itself pretty well and there were quite a few race bikes there doing runs and set ups at Vic motorcycle practice day.Brakes on this thing are insane so don't think it would loose much there at all where it would loose more is keeping the front wheel on the ground .

Re: Now that the H2R is out...
It can't race in anything. Its a one off special and should be viewed as such. It's an extraordinary motorcycle for a whole heap of reasons. I would like to see a head to head around a track with a 10 though. Not sure if anyone's done it but it would be interesting to see the differences. I've seen one accelerate on a short straight with a gaggle of 10's and it just leapt away (albeit with Murray Sayle on it)
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Re: Now that the H2R is out...
Andy the first 4,500 ks of its life was only done in reefton that's where I went to lean to ride it as I knew that roads like that would be its biggest challenge, and its done a number of trips there after that ,I would never push it to the limits there but believe me its no slouch .Sure its not ideal there but like anything if you can ride the bike and know the road well don't worry its more than capable. Glen is right These bikes will pull away very quickly and they don't need much space to put a big gap between anything on there tail.javaman wrote:What about in reefton ?

Re: Now that the H2R is out...
That's a nice video its among a number on the net ,im not sure but there was a similar one with a zx10 that had heaps of mods and result was similar .All I can say is what my experience with mine has been on the road and once on the track.Having riden with zx10 , R1, Bmw and suzukis the result in acceleration was always the same H2s Rock

I'm just a keyboard rider when it comes to the H2... but at 240Kgs I honestly don't think it would be able to outlap a 10R which is nearly 35Kgs lighter. Even at PI. Not much of the lap is done at full throttle and that's the only time the H2 would have any edge. At every aspect bar full throttle the H2 would fall behind so, like I said, unless you have a ridiculously long straight, it won't stand a chance.

I found this to be very interesting on the subject - only a little bit scientific, but I think it tells the story as it is:

Re: Now that the H2R is out...
Yep there reasonably on the ball there ,note all commented on madness acceleration and you have to ride one to grasp that . Roll ons the H2 was in a class of its own in all gears except first which of course relates to corner exit would be far superior .The boundary's on flash tunes by Guyl and super charger gear ratio changes that have been developed by Ricky Gadson make the power options way past stupid.Simple flash tune and pipe 250-275 RWHP ,super charger upgrade kit as well its just mental on steroids infact with those mods it is past the standard H2R.All things considered i will never ride this thing to its extremes but one thing i can say is it is EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE and i doubt there is any other bike that gives you the sort of rush this thing does. .

Re: Now that the H2R is out...
If as Glen writes the H2R won't be raced, where does leave the H2? Does the H2 have a class to race in and if it does, I wonder whether it could be legally kitted with H2R bits, depending on the class of course.
No doubt drag racers will have a field day with extended swingarms and wheelie bars but most of us are into more bendy competition.
