ZXR & ZX9 front ends

Post by Fifer »

Quick question: are the ZXR750 L and ZX9B front ends exactly the same inc triples???

Are the shocks the same?

No expert but I believe the B model 9 forks are longer that the ZXR.
Shock also has a built in external reservoir I think.
Are you looking to upgrade or just replace worn out parts?

The 9 forks are around 50mm longer than the 750L & the inner & outer tubes are heavier wall thickness. The B1 9s had the same caliper mounts as the 750Ls but B2 & 3s had the 90mm caliper spacing for the 6 pot Toki's, The 9 fork springs are stiffer too.
The triples are interchangeable but not sure if the offsets are the same.

Plus a ZX7 & a few ZXR Ls & ZX9 Bs & Cs in various stages of completion.

Thanks for that, such depth of knowledge is what makes forums like this so valuable!

i asked because:

1/ I have a ZX9 front end to sell and wondered if it is limited to those only or ZXR use aswell

2/ If my 900 motor won't fit the braced M frame then I have a stock L frame I might put it in, and could use the ZX9 front end to build a bike with.

If you get stuck I think I have a set of L forks and triples in the garage.
