Post by ocd »

Hi im looking to do a few track days and looking for a bike to use im a zrx owner but I dont want to use it on the track id rather drop a purpose built bike . I tezt rode a gsxr 750 which would be a great bike but I dont like riding position im thinkin z1000 but brakes and suspension isnt as good as sports bikes.to trick up a older bike like a 1980 but that would be expensive im after any suggestions . Cheers

There's a really good ZX9 going cheap mate.

Maybe make up a fighter style track bike?
I've tried MX bars on my 94 ZXR750 and it feels totally different and really comfortable seated position!
There was a fightered one on Gumtree for just over a grand but not sure if it's still there?

Z1000 is fine for the track ;)

I do have upgraded suspension and brakes but thats easy to acomplish. 03-04 ZX-6R forks bolt in no problem ;) :D

thanks laidback but im looking more for a naked riding position the zx9 is race bike style . Im looking at buying a damaged bike at auction the reason I was looking at a sport bike was the brakes and suspension they come with standard , if I can do a z1000 with zx6 r forks and get a good rear shock I think it would suit me im over 100kgs so suspension always needs changing . I know I could use the zrx I have the same suspension and brakes as phill, who but me on to drew its greg from northern nsw I just would like to set a bike up for the track only

A first gen 03-06 Z1000 would do the job nicely mate.

I'd love a track bike, but I simply cant justify it for the 2-3 track days I do a year, the Z1000 road bike fills that role and as general road hack quite nicely.

Let me know if you need any details about the fork swap, you'll need new wheel spacers, I have the part numbers stashed somewhere ;)
