Being new to riding in Sydney I've been taking it fairly easy when going though traffic
the other day I watched a guy lane split past a highway patrol car on the M4 with no reaction from the cop
Is this normal? What can you get away with?
Sydney guys, how far can you push it in traffic

So much traffic around Sydney I dont think they bother chasing sometimes. Some of the lanes are tight and most cage drivers are morons who regularly have low speed bingles and dont give a rats.
I see plenty of prangs at work and mostly its because people are impatient around here. So my best advice is to really make sure your buffering. If you want to go past someone just do it, be assertive and make your presence known

Ride like every other vehicle is a blind homicidal maniac that wants to kill you and you'll be fine. Like Firey says though, buffering is your best defence, no one crashes in space except for the Russians but that's another story.

I never split moving traffic that comes down to your judgement and what risks you want to take.Greedy wrote:Being new to riding in Sydney I've been taking it fairly easy when going though traffic

If you go up the inside/overtake on the left some will get you if they can.
Most will let you split stationary if you do it safely but I don't do it if I see a cop around because I have been done for it.
You see some riders doing risky stuff just to get a few spots ahead or get there a bit quicker which is stupid. Ride safely and be considerate of others and you should be fine.

Stop talking like a bunch of Camry driving retirees ffs. Just use the tin tops as berms mate.
