Hey guys,
Have got myself a ZZR1100, 91 model, bit of a project to fix up and get roadworthy, and get on the road.
I'm having trouble working out some starting problems.
Bike starts and runs well on the centre stand.
Put the sidestand down and the bike cuts out.
Start the bike with sidestand down and clutch in, bike starts no worries, let clutch out, bike cuts out.
There wasn't a sidestand switch on the bike when I got it.
Have got a secondhand one from the wreckers and fitted it.
But switch seems to work in reverse?
Have replaced clutch switch with a new one.
Still no joy.
Neutral switch seems to work correctly?
Lights up when in neutral, goes out when in gear?
Pretty much, its doing my head in!
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciatived.
Thanks.
Pat.

Re: ZZR1100 sidestand issues.
Sounds like a dicky side stand switch.
My GPZ one shat itself 33 years ago....
If your not fussed about having the switch...try connecting the s/stand wires together.

Re: ZZR1100 sidestand issues.
If I read that correctly- the switch is working as intended- sidestand down, kills engine to stop you riding off, stand down....

Re: ZZR1100 sidestand issues.
Thanks for the input guys.
Have twisted wires together and does work, but don't think it will pass a rwc like that?
And I would think that you could start the bike in neutral on the sidestand and let it warm up, and it would cut out if clutch was pulled in or it was put into gear?
Basing my thoughts on passed bikes that I could do that.
Have looked everywhere that describes starting procedure that mentions sidestand but haven't had any luck.
Thanks.

I agree...... sounds like the switch is working as it should, at least that's how it worked on minebonester wrote:If I read that correctly- the switch is working as intended- sidestand down, kills engine to stop you riding off, stand down....
