Looking at 2000 ZX - 12R

Post by RustyAs »

Hey All

Only another few weeks my shoulder will be out of the sling and I should be able to get back on a bike :kuda: :kuda: :kuda: :kuda:

Looking at a 2K ZX-12r on Monday, has got 75K on the speedo, looks ok in pics. obviously I'll look at in the flesh :)

Any ideas on good, bad or other issues I should look for? :?

Cheers

check out our 'check list ' on the website for used bike purchases

75k is not a lot if looked after... otherwise do the usual good lookover and then do a test ride
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

Thanks Smitty :kuda:

I actually have that printed off, I've had to look at and buy a few bikes recently

As long as there are no specific issues on the 12s ? :o from what I've read, here and other forums, they seem pretty bullet proof. particularly if they have ben looked after :kuda:

Cheers

The only main known problem the A1 had was a stator wiring harness problem where oil leaked through the harness and back the voltage reg plug at the back left hand side of the bike ( in the wheel arch) ..

It would then burn the plug out and bugger the stator , just check around where the plug is and see if there is any oil around that area .
life starts at 200 kph!

Was it also if launched hard the clutch basket would go in the early ones and that's why a lot of guys replaced it with billet ones ?

A lot of guys that kept the early models opted for a aftermarket billet option if I'm not mistaken so that could be something to look into
