What's a great glove with serious protection?

Guys I am looking to spend decent money on a quality glove that will give me good protection if I come sliding down the road, can you dudes give me a suggestion of a brand that makes good stuff!

Not really what I would call a flashy glove like an alpinestars or five but from my perspective rather than flash they've concentrated on quality and material.
They even use sting ray leather in spots as its abrasion resistance is off the charts.

ive got an alpine stars pair that survived a lowspeed lowside at ec... not super race, but do come with knuckle protection, and allow for a bit more flexibility if just city riding

Gimoto. Crash testested them slapping my hand down and sliding on it with no injuries. They have plastic pads on the heals of the palm so they slide, all the right armour and your little finger attached to the next one so they don't break or snap off. I'm sure they are Kangaroo hide too.

Re gloves I saw a guy on you tube that had premium gloves with what looked like a wire mesh on the palm, he said it was the latest technology, does anyone know what brand they might be?

My revit Jerez gloves don't have mesh palm.
But I fell off at 250km/h at the end if the straight at eastern creek.
I could have used the knuckles to slice someone's face open. So I ground the sharp bits off and still used them until my new ones arrived

What leathers were you using?
How did they hold up?

I use these. Crash tested and way better quality for $60 than the cheapest Alpinestars at MCA for $120.

They have armor on the palm as well which is really great. I would recommend them if you don't want to break the bank.

I think the thing to realize is people can say all they like about I crashed at this speed or at that speed.

What it comes down to is not the speed but the location your hand ends up.
If you crash at 300km/h and your hands are waving around who cares what gloves you have on you can have ansell plastic gloves for all it matters.
But if you crash at 60km/h and your hand is caught under the bike and its grinding away on the Tarmac you want the most abrasive material possible.
If $50 gloves were the go why would racers wear cumbersome amour laden kangaroo hide monsters and still sometimes grind their fingers off!
Its all about the crash. I've crashed in $50 gloves and $300 gloves but I might as well be going blah blah blah for all it matters in your possible crash.

Buy the best quality gloves you can. One of my mates right now is trying to work out how to ride with a 8mm shorter tendon in his little pinkie because it ground everything including the tendon away!!

I've crash tested Dainese Pro Carbon gloves. My hands were fine but the gloves went into the bin.

We use to use mums garden gloves but they weren't a cool look but they work and if we could get hold of riggers pig skin gloves they were the bee's knees and we survived ok back in the pre-cotton wool era

However these days with it being frowned upon by some with anything short of wearing full gear with brand name bling to be a cool kid i use Icon full gauntlet gloves for the track and the same shorter version on the road and i have a pair of Dri rider summer mesh gloves, also Dianese winter gloves, mind you i haven't tested the Icons yet but look like they would hold up pretty good in most cases.

What i can tell you i have had the experience of testing those Dri rider short length mesh summer gloves on my last visit to the Brindabella' lowsiding on gravel and hitting the deck at 70 kmph and yes they wore through and I sustained a minor graze on my palm as it was first point of contact. I continue to wear the same gloves with some tape over the hole.


At the end of the day it is your choice what you wear, i would recomend anything with all knuckle protection, roo or shark skin for the extra layers on the impact areas and little finger webbing at the very least, full gauntlet is also a good thing and check out the stitching which is almost guaranteed not to fail on the better brands.
