Whats good for leather care?
Hi all,
Was wondering what is good for looking after a leather suit. I bought Dubbin but I'm worried that the "cream" will clog the perforations in the suit. Can only imagine how much my life will hurt if I have to pick that shit out of every perforation hole.
So let me know what you use on your leathers and maybe why you use it.
Thanks

Re: Whats good for leather care?
I use regular leather moisturiser... I think I got mine off a shoe shop, but it doesn't really matter. I had the Dainese one that came with the suit and they're pretty much the same thing.
Re: Whats good for leather care?
I use Mothers Leather Conditioner which you can get from most car assessory shops. It's a cream which is easy to apply and keeps them really soft. I use it on my car seats and thought I'd try it on the Dianese leathers and been very happy with the result. I just wipe off any road splatter or dirt with a damp cloth first but they also have a leather cleaner that you can use before the conditioner if you really get your leathers dirty on a regular basis.

I have found that sliding down the road is not good for them with or without cream

just apply whichever leather conditioner you buy with a small paintbrush - its easy to apply like this. Then sit the leathers out in the sun. Any tiny bits of conditioner left in the holes will dry out pretty quickly. Personally I use GeWy leather food. Its old-school but it works really well. Any good quality horse shop (saddles etc) will be able to help you out.Juggy wrote:.......Was wondering what is good for looking after a leather suit. and I'll get this in before anyone else does......Dubbin *does not* rot the stitches in your leather suit.....

I've been using sweat and rain on mine for the last 5 years. Works a treat and doesn't cost a cent.
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

Re: Whats good for leather care?
the only reason I am still wearing the same Alpine Star MX boots after 32 years - Roger De Coster Gen2 to be exact .......is because the leather has been treated properly. Sweat and rain only, I would have expected about 5 years out of them.Nosferatu wrote:....I've been using sweat and rain on mine for the last 5 years. Works a treat and doesn't cost a cent.....
