Just brought myself another Kawaka and thought I should join in. My everyday commute is a 2006 Bandit 1200 but one of my previous bikes was a pristine 1999 ZX9R and I have been sorry I ever parted with it back in about 2006, so long story short I have been on the lookout for a replacement. Just before Christmas (good time to buy yourself a present I thought) I spotted a very nice (immaculate) Blue 2002 ZX9R (F) here in Perth with only 6000 k on the clock and the rest is history. Being just this side of 60 yrs young I have no time to spare so I intend using the 9 on weekend runs and the occasional trackday up at Barbagello, (my local track, for those of you on the other-side of this great country.) Have spent the last couple of weekends getting to know the bike, it appears it has only had one service since new still has the original tyres fitted. I enjoy working on my bikes and so far I have bled and replaced; brake fluids, replaced coolant, oil, (Motul 5400 10w 40) and filter with new tyres on order from Jake Wilson in the US. (Going to try some Bridgestone 016 & change them myself). Future plans are to polish both rims edges and maybe a double bubble tinted screen. Looking forward to exchanging info on the forum with you guys. I'm interested to hear any feedback, hints or tips from other members with experience with this model.
Regards Pops

Hi Pops, welcome to KSRC
Ummm changing the tyres yourself could be a bit of a challenge but not out of the question, I tried changing road tyres without a bead breaker 20 years ago....... never again
I toyed with changing tires myself too, and decided it's "too hard"! "Bike Tyre Centre in Ozzy park will fit and balance tires for you for something like $30 (I'm about to go down there are try this out - just need to get the wheels off the bike).

Philbo, I'm in the Western burbs and here are the recent photos.
More photos since I polished the rims, fitted new Bridgestone BT016's and general fussing. Going in to Neil Anderson's next week for a tune & general checkup.
