Re: Summer Nats 2013....
Wow what an experience was my first summernats and was great to be able to experience it with my brother as a first time entrant....My brother used to be into bikes having a harley,CB500/4 and most recently a ZX9R oh and a few dirt bikes while younger....But a few years ago stuffed his back and can no longer ride without pain so got himself a project....Started out as a shell and with a considerable amount of $$$$'s turned it into this.He done one up in his late teen's early 20's but had to sell it as he had a young family and regretted it up untill the day he started this build...
Being a boiler maker/ Powder coater he has powder coated everything that can/need's to be and all wiring in the engine bay is hidden (don't have a good pic showing it) It was supposed to be blown under the bonnet but ran out of coin after having to do a few thing's twice ie:One of the cylinders was bored on a slight angle and needed to be sleeved and the 6k paint job (thats with him doing the prep work) needed to be done twice because of run's etc.So next year will be a blown 253 as the motor was built to take one...Even with that the case it still got 179hp on the dyno at the summernats and he got interviewed and photgraphed by streetmachine for a write up in their mag
This write up is only done to get Dave#3 motivated

Is only a 253 was built to be blown so compression is lower i think....I don't know cars so don't know if it is good or notWattie wrote:179hp??

Re: Summer Nats 2013....
A stock 253 should put out around 185bhp (138kw) at 4400rpm...
Where as the 4.2 Litre 253 LC V8 Engine put out approx 174bhp (130kw) at 4400rpm.
I'm a big Holden fan...but not a fan of new school wheels on an old school car.
My opinion only.

Big fan of the nats, ive missed seven out of the 26, pissed to be so far south this time of year.
Torana looks great but i kinda agree about the new wheels old car thingy.
2 of my mates entered again this year
Kwaka green sandman panel van and a cobalt blue blown 67 xr falcon TOP 60 car.

Re: Summer Nats 2013....
If he had it specked to be blown then your probably right in saying this would give it less compression which will ultimately give you less HP without the good gear bolted on.Disco wrote:

Re: Summer Nats 2013....
Personally I wouldn't even waste my coin on a 253.. A V6 engine would make more power :p
You need at least a 308 under that bonnet.. It would be a much better investment with worthwhile gains..

It's road registered I dont think you can get a 308 engineered in NSW for a 4 door LC????.....They have been in the past but pretty sure you cant anymore....Kawawog wrote: You need at least a 308 under that bonnet.. It would be a much better investment with worthwhile gains..
