Hey all, been having a few issues with the old girls idle recently. I did a vacuum balance over the weekend and that has improved things, but the big problem seems to be the idle speed is quite temperature sensitive. If I set the idle to be 1100 at 80 odd, when she is cold the idle is about 700 and she doesn't want to stay running. If I bring the idle up, once she's warm my idle is 1300 or more? I know I'm getting older too but I'm sure this never used to be an issue.
EDIT
I've managed to figure this one out. Yours truly is responsible. I lubed the throttle cables the other day and my problem seems to be gone. It still idles a little lower when cold, but no more that expected. I'm guessing that when the idle was really low the throttles were totally closing and then when the bike heated up they stopped closing 100%. Now there is only 200 - 300 rpm difference in idle speed rather than 500.

Real bravery is being afraid but doing it anyway.
