Akrapovic link pipe ZX10R

Post by KEL10R »

What's the difference between these 2, both from bike strore websites for the 2011/2012 ZX10R with Akrapovic Slip on
from what i can see the one with the single pipe only seems to have a spot for a sensor where the other doesn't.
I take it i will have to get a power commander also to richen up the fuelling when the cat is removed,
anyone else done this to their 11/12 ZX10R

I think the second one is using a generic akro pipe picture.

Your bike only has one pipe.i reckon that other one is for an R1 or something

Ah, so Sportbike TrackGear are just being lazy, all the link pipes should come with the sensor hole right?
Did you do this to yours wattie? If so difference in sound and torque?

Nah not mine.
Not all link pipes come with the bung for tuning.
You'd think all akra ones would. But best as the question to the supplier.

There may be 2 types of link pipe for the 10 from Acro as the USA don't run a O2 sensor in there system. I found out the hard way with a Yoshi system I took delivery of yesterday. Had to track down a adapter, pop a whole and weld it in.

Just in case you need to know the adapter is a M12 with a 1.25 thread pitch.
I love my new ZX10. It scares the shit out of me.

Hey guys- there's plenty of previous discussion on this topic if you choose to search. The good thing is Akra seem to be pretty competitive locally now so we can get local spec products such as link pipes and baffles without the risk.

Thanks for that info holdontight, looked like the right one but you never know till it arrives, will def use that info if it turns up without the plug.

Anyone know if you can just fit a link pipe (with O2 sensor) and go riding? Or is this bad for the engine?

the paperwork i got with the exhaust and link pipe stated that if you take the cat out you must enrich the fuel or it will cause damage to the engine cause it will run too lean.

I Wouldnt risk it, It will probably run to lean and cause some kind of damage, apparantly the ECU does a good job of trying to fix things but only if you just go the CAN and not the link pipe.

I have just installed both on my bike with a PCV and 02 Optimizer now its off to the tuners,

Let us know how you get on Shannony, and where the difference is compared to how it runs now, plus if you get any dyno figures? :kuda:

I did and have had no problems at all. Its not running hot at all wich is the first sign of a lean burn. Bike has no problems starting from hot or cold and pulls clean from the bottom all the way to the limmiter. Its not strugling for power (a second sign that its looking for more fuel) as the blokes I run with are on S1000rr's and I'm not laking for any power with those boys. In fact from 4th gear on they are the ones trying to tag on.
I have also bloked the air pump. Don't know if that helped anything but I was there when I fitted the quick shifter so did it at the same time.

Will Do Kelior, Tossing up between Mornington Kawa and Dynoverks, i'll post some graphs up and let you know how it goes, Not that i need the power just sticking with Akra recomendation.
I'll post up pre and post tune so we can see what is really going on stock with the link pipe and can with a ZERO map loaded. be interesting.
