Arista (No cover with 3 claims) Even if your not at fault.

Post by Blackzxr »

Now let me start by saying, i'm not going to fly off the handle until i speak to them.

I got a letter from them today saying, they will not be renewing my policy due to past claims, that i notified them of.

I have been insured with them for the past few years and have had one not at fault claim, with my old bike. I have had this bike insured with them for twelve months and have not made a claim. I have not made any claims on my own insurance, have always been someone else fault. :?

It better be a farken mistake.

Just thought i would let you guys know. If it's not a mistake, a lot of people are promoting these carns (including myself) and you should be warned.

I left Arista a year ago after being with them for two years with no claims. Reason was that 50% increase mentioned above. They were very competitive price wise, but could not give me a valid reason for the increase.

An insurer has a right to decline you insurance at renewal without even providing a reason. As they have provided you with a reason, the letter in question may be an error, but it may also be due to claims statistics for your type of bike rather than you personally. Insurance is all about statistics, so if there are a buttload of claims for any particular factor, then they will generally rate it higher or if it gets out of hand knock it on the head entirely.

A good insurer is one with a portfolio that performs well, not one that hands out insurance to everyone who comes knocking. I would sooner insure with someone who did knock a few people on the head, because that means they are likely to be in a position to pay my claim when the time comes.

At the end of the day you got what you paid for, and at the end of each 12 month contract they owe you nothing.

Yeh might not like the bike but i still think if they took your money last year this year should be no diferent.

aparently the 10 r is in the dont insure category for a lot of insurers as well.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

hmmm...
heard a bit of this lately with them, question is....
did they try and buy a bit of business over the past few years...?

or Rob,
did they stuff up their risk profile of you?
you know ..mild mannered sensible rider who lives in a
safe postcode with good record..good risk so
WE WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY
and
then the bike/theft/crash/claim rate in your neck of the woods
goes up and they say...pharrrk we are outta here
and so
young Rob , you get the "Dear John" letter which says
'thanks but no thanks'
you are not worth insuring!

I have had similar in the past
...like when I put a Holden V8 in my 6 cylinder Torana
the RACV ran a mile (25yo with no claims and Rating 1..nup  )
or
when I moved from the GPZ750 to the GPZ750 ..TURBO
QBE gave me a "Dear John" letter too :(
...wrong neighbourhood (I had NOT moved) and the market value on the bike was too high
(why? I bought it 2ndhand) and they agreed when they
TOOK MY MONEY
so
I went 3rdparty/fire/theft until I downtraded to the GPz250
and bought a Swann policy from BKwaka...no probs since.
They took my money and coughed up when needed
what more do i say?

mate
give 'em a piece of ya mind, tell 'em you hope they go bust
and find some one else...

cheers
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

Hi All,
I'm currently with QBE Western, due to the fact that my options are limited because of both claims (for the car) and my driving history, and also due to the type of bike ZXR, and probably because of my age - I dont have the option of Arista.. but a friend of mine recently got her renewal and her premium had also increased by 50% on the previous year.... she tried QBE Western and they were substantially cheaper (no I'm not on commission or doing any sales speils, just telling my story).
Another friend is currently having a claim processed through Arista which I believe is taking way longer than I would expect, based on my experience with claims for the car.
He had a single vehicle accident at Jamberoo on the 18th April and is still waiting to hear from Arista in regard to their assessment etc etc.....
If it was me, I'd be on the phone to them daily harrassing them! :x

Anyway just my 2c worth![/quote]

OK, here's the story.

Arista will not insure anyone who has 3 claims, regardless of the reason.

I have had 3 not a fault claims over the past 4 years.
Two were with my last car, where someone hit me, whilst i was stationary, were claimed through their insurance. (was with Shannons and had nothing to do with Arista)
The other was my bike, when it was dropped whilst getting fixed at Top Gear Motorcycles, where i had no control.

This is there policy regardless of the reasons. So if you have had three claims before, don't go to ARISTA.

F*#k them.
Insurance companies are assholes, are only interested in taking the risk out of insurance. Heeelllooo that's the industry your in cockheads.

This is the history of my claims in 15 years, with one other, where my car was totalled parked out the front of my house. So i don't think i can be classed as a bad risk.

That's why I'm with QBE at the moment, Arista wouldn't insure it for daily use.

I was with QBE a few years back and moved to Arista when QBE jacked their premiums up by 50%.
The issue i have is they reinsured me, when all this happened prior to then. Looks to me as if they are going the way of the others (like QBE) jack the prices up, raise the age limit, deny certain capacities etc. They all seem to go on recruitment drives and change their tunes down the track. ?

Oh well, i'll start ringing around. :?

I've never made a claim through Arista so maybe I'm paying a shitload for nothing, but I've got three bikes with them on the over 40's thing, including the ZX10 and they've never batted an eyelid (when they're taking my money that is).

One of the things I get to do at work is look after the insurance portfolio and we use a couple of brokers, one of which is IC Frith (Arista). Next time they're out I'll check what the go is.
