2004 ZX10R
I have the 2004 ZX10R model. I am curious as to whether other owners of this model have got unusually noisy engines. Mine has done approximately 78,000 kms, though this isn't entirely accurate having had different sized rear sprockets at one time. I should point out that I am not a wheelie puller or such. As the bike is ageing the engine noise is getting more noticeable. The bike was recently serviced, and all was found to be sound, i.e. cam chain, valves, clutch basket were not identified as the cause of the noisy engine. It just is noisy. Apparently this is a known behaviour according to a few other threads in other forums, but still, just am interested to see if anyone has noticed this and whether it is a sinister thing or that the model just was designed perhaps with certain components that made it just sound like a diesel engine after so many thousands of kilometres. The bike runs fine, has plenty of power. Just need good earplugs to drown out the rattles and diesel sounding noise so I can hear my Akrapovic! Look forward to hearing from you.

Re: 2004 ZX10R
I had one for about 20000 klm's and it was pretty quiet. I don't know if anyone here has one with that many klm's on it.
Noisiness is a bit subjective but if you've had the bike for a while and you think it's getting noisier then it must be something. Can you whack up a video of it running.
It's the quiet ones you have to watch out for apparently

Rode Watties and apart from a lack of front tyre wear I didnt think the motor was noisy in any way.

Re: 2004 ZX10R
Mines pretty noisy, nothing more than most other Kawi's though...
Can you isolate where you think the main noise is coming from.
The cam chain adjuster may need to be "manually" adjusted...

You might want to check out the attached link, I have a low km '04 that sounds fine at the moment but I probably will have to tackle this job sometime not too soon as it's one of the early ones with this fault/design.
