Removing abs on zx10r 2011

Post by mike-b »

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyones tried removing their abs system on a 2011 zx10r.

I know you can pull the two fuses out but the FI and KIBS light stays on. Does this affect anything else like traction control or any performance issues?

Thanks guys.

2 fuses does not affect anything else.
The race guys that don't have the non abs versions just run them without the 2 fuses.

It can be removed. One of the RATS did this and was a very big job. The bike was almost comletley pulled down. just pull the fuse's and be done with it.
I love my new ZX10. It scares the shit out of me.

Advice is if you don't want ABS then buy a model that is non-ABS

That's great advice if you already have the bike or buying one second hand

Its too late, i got the abs version cheap also. Lol.
I found out I can remove alll the lines then block the pump off and have it connected with the fuses in and it wont throw a light.
Main issue is the rear brake line is too short for the rearsets.

Road registered but mostly ridden on the track, if that makes sense. Lol. Havent really had much chance to ride it on the road and i only know 2 people that ride.

I know its going to be a pain in the ass droppingbthe swingarm off and stuff.

What's the harm in just pulling the fuses before a trackday?

I cant adjust my new rearsets. Lol.
I bought a set of rearsets as i needed it to be adjustable but due to the brakeline being waaaayyyyy to short i cant even adjust them. Its at its closest and highest setting now just to be able to bolt it on but the brake line is under a little tension. My only option is to remove the Abs lines a run a normal setup.

You mean the line between the reservior and cylinder? Not that the zx6 has ABS but my rearsets came with a longer line.

Also have you thought about the insurance implications? If your in a prang at fault or not having removed the ABS Id suggest it would possibly deam the bike unroadworthy. Even though other models or bikes dont have ABS, thats how the bike was complianced.

Fuses for trackdays would be the go :)

I'm not 100% if this is true or not but I was told if you take the fuses out it won't let you rev the bike past 11k?

The insurance this does bother me but i dont really know any other way around the whole hose being to short issue. I cant even move the rearsets at all, its fixed in this position for now. Any suggestions? Lol.
