I.D. a Z1000 I just bought
Looks like I've bought a Z1000 that was advertised incorrectly. Just waiting for the owner to send me frame and engine numbers.
Bike was advertised as a Z1000A but I'm pretty sure it is a Z1000 MKII.
Can anyone confirm what it is by the frame and engine number?

frame no. kzt100a04339
eng no. kzt00e008774
I'm assuming it should be KZT100 on the engine number but that is how he gave it to me
thanks

Yes I think you are right, although I think you are missing a letter on the engine no . Z1000 mk 11 79/80 frame no KZT00A- engine no KZT00AE -

Re: I.D. a Z1000 I just bought
Eastoe - I think you have an early Z1000 based on those numbers. The 1977 Z1000A1 model kicked off with frame # KZT00A - 000001 and goes through to KZT00A027500. The 1978 Z1000A2 kicked off with frame # KZT00A027501.
The MkII models 1979/80 should have a frame number code of KZT00D.
Its easy enough to tell the difference from looking at the frame/motor anyway. Early Z1000 frames have the pillion footpegs/exhaust bracket located on a large solid gusset - the MkII frames had welded tubes. The early Z1000 motors have round ends on the cam covers, the MkII motor has rectangular ends. Early Z1000 motors have plain smooth-finished engine covers and are plain unpainted in stock form, the MkII motors are black and have finned engine covers (alternator, points cover). It is easy to fit MkII motors into early frames, or early motors into MkII frames, this happens often.
If you have some photos mate, bung 'em up. That will make it real easy.

I'm seeing some confusion here.
I see a Z000 MKii but then again it will be interesting to see it in a week's time

Could it be a Z1R MKI with a MKII head?

Yeah but the tailpipe is in the right corner of the pic. It looks photoshopped for something
