Track bike insurance
Looking at track bike insurance. My road bike is insured with Swann and told that only fire and theft but not covered when traveling on the trailer cause it's not a dirt bike WTF. And the want $65/month which is more than I pay for my road bike.
Any recommendations?
Thanks

Re: Track bike insurance
Shannon's used to insure for everything but road and track use, I think they call it "laid up" insurance, covers fire/theft and falling off trailers

Track bike insurance
Like Paul said. Shannons cover mine but only bc they also cover a currently registered road bike. They also wanted pics of mine showing it without damage. QBE Western would be worth a call too

Re: Track bike insurance
Shannons cover my trackies for agreed value, unless I have them inside a Motorsport complex perimeter or the engine is running.
Depending on the bikes current value (and having a few policies), the 2007 ZX6R was about $165, 2011 ZX10R $225 per annum but I would have to check.

Re: Track bike insurance
did you want it just for fire / theft ?2010zx6r wrote:.....Looking at track bike insurance......
Because I am pretty sure that no insurance companies insure for track use.

Re: Track bike insurance
Not for track use. No one will give you that. I was just after fire, theft and when on trailer.Gosling1 wrote:did you want it just for fire / theft ?2010zx6r wrote:.....Looking at track bike insurance......

Swann wanted around $780 just for fire and theft. That's more than I pay for my 2010 zx6r. Didn't believe. He explained that due to no registration the bike can't be insured under a rating one. He went back several times to confirm with the underwriter. What a load of crap. I was expecting to pay no more than $250.
I'll try giving Shannon's a call.
Cheers guys

Do you need to have any other vehicles with them?? 'Cause for that price I might as well insure mine as well...Jonno wrote:Shannons cover my trackies for agreed value, unless I have them inside a Motorsport complex perimeter or the engine is running.

Re: Track bike insurance
I am not sure but if your car is insured with shannons it covers all damages and possibly theft of anything attached to your car, included with your car policy.Yes Swann will insure your bike on the track but only if you are doing a course with a approved and licenced company that is approved by the government of your state.

Re: Track bike insurance
AAMI will insure aswell as an unregistered vehicle My 07 trackie they would insure for $12,000 full comp for 1k a year or for $5,000 fire and theft for $300....There are options out there a vehicle dosnt have to be registered to be insured....EDU wrote:Do you need to have any other vehicles with them?? Yeah, I'm pretty sure mine is a SWO... Could be RWO but I wouldn't bet on it.

Re: Track bike insurance
I dont know but it would be worth asking, but In my situation it probably helped alot considering I have multiple x multiple policies with them, they even insured a brand new dirtbike for free and then sent me a refund chqEDU wrote:

A couple of years ago the answer was definately Yes. Worth a call though. Not sure about SWO or RRO as mine is neither.EDU wrote:Do you need to have any other vehicles with them?? Track bike insurance
Gave Shannon's a call today. They quoted me around $325 for laid up cover on $6500 bike here in Vic. A lot better than Swann.

Re: Track bike insurance
Pretty well covered already by the looks but Jardine Lloyd Thompson used to also do unregod insurance as did IC Frith. We've used Shannon's though for a while. Their pay by the month is also no more expensive than the full premium
