Carb Idle zx7R

Post by Rudy2 »

Hi All
I just bought my used zx7r 1994 and replace the radiator. All seem ok on first test ride but it idles to hi about 3k. The carb idel adjustment cable is all the way out so it's not set to high.
Any Ideas
Rolling Eyeseas on what's causing the high Idle

could be an air leak after the carbs.

i'd agree. don't ride the bike until you figure out exactly what is wrong. i melted a hole in a piston once due to the exact problem that mario suggested.

To check if it is a prob like this, spray aerostart (or aerosol carby cleaner) around the carbs and their rubber mount points and if the revs change up or down a bit, then it is a leak somewhere.

Either way it's best to check all the carb mount attachment points to make sure air isnt leaking through a seal, wormscrew attachment point or a hole in the rubber manifolds themselves.

If it hurts, you aren't doing it right.
