Hi Guys,
Im new here, been partrolling for a while and have finally signed up. I bought a ZX2R not long ago...although i have it for sale, im considering keeping it and replacing the Cam chain myself. (well my dad will be doing it, hes the mechanic).
I have done a search on this forum and only found a couple of articles relating to the same topic, but owners got the workshop to do it rather then themselves.
I have got the 97 ZXR250 manual... its obviously not that detailed compared to the average service manuals around.
My dad has nearly every tool you need in a shed, although is there any particular things that may cause a concern that a non-motocycle mechanic might not be aware of?
I have got a quote for parts from Red Baron, some say they are pricey but have the goods...is there any other parts shops anyone can reccomend other than southern cross sports?
As of now, depending on what parts need to be replaced, i may need cam chain, spring, push rod, collar, retainer, rear guide and a gasket.
Any advise that may make the job easier would be appreciated.
cheers

Re: ZX2R 92 Cam Chain Replacement
The issue was my cam chain tensioner..pulled it apart, cleaned it and the problem is fixed. guess the tensioner was just stuck from all the gumming.
