The joys of cold tyres
3 corners from my house, didn't really take the corner any faster than i usually do. But lowsided on the right hand side.
Only cosmetic damage except the brake lever broke off, so need to source a new one (anyone got one lying around?). Any ideas on the price?
What sort of price is fairing repairs gonna be? got some big scrapes in about 4 places on the fairings and a small crack on the front. Also the zorst is scraped.
On the positive side, i went 3 and a bit years without a spill, and hey, i always wondered what a low side was like...
So thats another for crashed in '05

For the price of alloy levers, I'd be getting the local engineering shop to make me steel ones. Gear lever for my brothers SV650S (since sold) was $145. So I'd expect similar pricing for yours.
If the cracks aren't too bad, and you're not too fussy, some araldite on the rear side after you've scrubbed it with emery paper might be enough, either that or get it plastic welded. Throw the guy half a six pack when you pick it up and see how cheap plastic welding can be...personally I'd only repair the cracks, as they can get worse. Touch up paint at the most for the fairings. But I tend not to care too much...feel free to go nuts if you want.
Now, just keep the bloody thing upright! Got it?

re: The joys of cold tyres
came close on the way in to work twice.
was about 6:30am or so, i forgot just HOW cold tyres can get in this chilly weather.
going through the m5 cutting up the traffic as i hate slowpokes, right lane to left quickly i leant it over about 20' or so and felt the rear go out on me ever so slightly. (i was accelerating hard at the time so it wasnt just me being paranoid).
result, 1 pucker mark on the seat and me being a LOT more careful.
i had a minor slip changing lanes from left->right a bit later on, but nowhere as bad as that first one.
Tough luck, if i was close and had a spare, i'd give you one. your just lucky its the lever alone.

i got a replacement front brake lever for $10 from a wrecker. the chrome on the adjustment dial is lumpy cos the knob is probably rusting underneath, but for $10 who cares! the handle bit is perfect though. i have no idea how much new ones cost.
yeah get the plastic welded cos it will only crack more. as for painting, well it all depends on whether or not you need/want new decals. if the paint is candy paint then its practically impossible to match so u'll be paying more. if its just plain coloured paint then its heaps easier to match and u could probaly just paint it yourself if u get the paint mixed up somewhere for u. have fun!

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Sorry to hear man, bad news. Good luck getting it sorted. I like the scratched paintwork look myself, but I am known to be eccentric.
