ZRX1200 TOP SPEED.
Hey Gents, who has an idea of how accurate the REx speedos are and what sort of top speed will they do? Mine has s slip on, standard gearing, jetted etc and will pull around 10,300rpm in 4th and around 8900-9000 in top, shows about 255 depending on bumps (bit hard to read with one eye at that speed!). Now, on a weekend strop, whilst hard up the clacker of a BMW rider (new 1000 rocket with around 1000k on it), him swapping ends over the bumps, me about 10metres behind but tracking nice and straight with my "you-bewt" revalved/Ohlins equiped Zrx rocket i could pull out along side but had no more legs to pass him! We had several runs like this with me in front and him in front, i couldnt get 260 but 255 or there abouts (indicated but confirmed against the Beemers speedo).
SO how accurate are the speedos??? AND what cams fit these things? Any suggestions?
Cheers & bring on the Supers next week, yee hah ay Striker!!!!!
oH, and for anyone who followed my past ramblings/ranting of discontent on the handling of these things its now SORTED, still big and clunky but very nice!

Re: ZRX1200 TOP SPEED.
I till him he's a poof all the time and he says "and whats wrong with that"! He also points out that he can 1:40s all day at E.C. on treaded tyres and is not bad for a poof!!!! I might point out a 1:40 is around 5-6 seconnds quicker than i've ever been around there so i cant argue!!! I just reckon he needs motocross suspenders on our "test track"!Wattie wrote:i'd say approx 10% out.

if he's doing 140's he will be going faster than 260 indicated at the track.

Yeah, i'm sure he would be, indicated at least. If he could keep the thing on the ground up the PUtty he could be going a lot quicker than that. I cheated a bit, i know he wanted to have a play so i pulled up for a start on a rough section, on the smooth stuff the Beemer ANILATES the Rex, that's for. On one of my favourite corners, tightening radious and usually "dirty", i was zipping around with my keen more or less on the ground about 130kph (55k indicated) and he is going around the OUTSIDE of me on it!Wattie wrote:if he's doing 140's he will be going faster than 260 indicated at the track.

Re: ZRX1200 TOP SPEED.
Mine's an S model so shouldn't be compared to the slower, worse handling R models. But my playschool clock has nudged the $2.80 mark more than once. So at a guess I reckon it's prolly good for a real $2.65 or there abouts. Mind you, I am 6 and 1/2 feet shorter than you and weigh as much as the eye of your dick.
Glad to hear you finally have the handling issues which were never there in the first place fixed. You know it was just your lack of ball.
(No, it's not a mistype, he only has one!)

Re: ZRX1200 TOP SPEED.
Hey dont knock the GPX! Its my version of a 125 GP bike! And NO 1:46 was a while ago when i could actually see a bit! I still reckon i'd get under 2 flat on the Rex but that would be all i would aim for these days! I actually get SCARED these days! Must be an age thing, you'd understand that!Strika wrote:Yeah... but that's just ability AE!!!!Angry Emmet wrote:Yeah, i'm sure he would be, indicated at least. I still think you're a poof only managing mid 40's at the creek. You should put a pipe on that GPX250 and see if you can break into the low 40's, then I might have some respect for you you old bastard!

Bullshit...if you couldn't chuck a high 40 on the Rex I'd bare my arse in Bourke St AE! You could do that while reading a good stick book and sipping your morning coffee. Don;t listen to his shit, he could hose most of us with one eye closed.

Re: ZRX1200 TOP SPEED.
Top speed, dunno, I know I have seen an "indicated" 250kph on a few occasions, roads are that rough around here hard (& dangerous) to focus on the speedo @ times.
Accuracy, pretty close to a consistent 10% slow when I have travelled with my GPS & other GPS equipped bikes.
Cams, ZZR1200 cams fit, straight drop-in no problems, I only had to change 1 x shim & it was req a change with the std cams, which were pitted @ 40,000 cliks.
BTW, these cams have done around 60,000 trouble free wheelie prone, rev limit testing kilometre's & LUVIN'IT
Kwick (ExpensiveLightweightShit.com) sells the Yoshimura cams for a similar price to cost of bringing genuine ZZR cams in from the USA.
According to Kwick & who am I to argue, the Yoshi's are a better cam.
The ZZR cams make power to 11,500 rpm, but your ZRX limiter cuts the fun short around 10,600 rpm, so real easy to smack the limiter if your head down tail up & totally seduced by wail of a Kerker Meg @ full noise..........
Obviously the cams will increase your top speed cause you will be making more ponies @ any revs that count, with next to no lose of what is already abundant low down grunt.
That's my experience anyhow.........

Re: ZRX1200 TOP SPEED.
ZZR1200 cams fit. Muzzy also do cams for them. Some of the guys on ZRXOA claim to have got 180hp out of a ZRX donk, so I would be checking out what engine mods they are doing if you are chasing more power.Angry Emmet wrote: AND what cams fit these things? Any suggestions?
I've had mine at the track but didn't think to look at the speedo as I was just cruising around on it and would let all of the sports bikes go past down the straight and then round them all up again through the back section.

Are you riding with Phil's CDT to the Supers?
EDIT: Erol beat me to it with the cams.

EDIT #2: Just double checked and there are issues with the Muzzy cams, so stick with the Yoshi's.

Re: ZRX1200 TOP SPEED.
Sounds like the S model has a higher top speed over the R model. Makes sense - my ZZR1100 had one fewer Hp than my ZRX12, but a 35km/h higher top speed. Guess the S model slices the air better.
