what fuel do you use?
okay ive had a big concern with this
what do you use and is it okay to switch it up?
when i bought the bike the previous owner was using 95 unleaded i rode till the tank was on the red and filled it up with 98 unleaded bp ultimate
was lookin up differences from regular bp ultimate and shell 98 v power accordin to some test conducted on 5th gear shell 98 v power came out on top
so is it safe to switch to shell vpower 98? idk im a bit cautious tend to do things regardin the bike by the book since the owners manual says use bp ultimate 95 +
fillups are 3/4 th of the tank since u can never get it to the top even if u can its not advisable
so far - 1st fill up 248km <- 95 bp ultimate
2nd fill up 254km - 98 bp ultimate
3rd fill up 285- 98 bp ultimate
also i tend to fill up at this 1 servo only never fill up anywhere else read something on youtube by the user (blinkycab) something about fuel quality might defer from 1 servo to another since some are dodgy and have water in them or what not
anyways any feed back would be appreciated
cheers

Re: what fuel do you use?
If you do a search on the forum, fuel topic has been discussed many times.
Short answer, most prefer BP & Caltex premium fuels; keeping in mind that the best fuel is the freshest batch (use a servo that has high turnover).
There isn't a need to run 98 on your 2fiddy, unless modifications you add requires it from running "lean".

Shell V-Power.
its gives the most Power, thats why its called V-power.

Re: what fuel do you use?
lol wattie shell vpower in the test did give optimum performance / and distance compared to bp ultimate hence why i was curious so yea
then again the test could have just been biased and rigged from the start after a few extra coins went into the testers pockets?

Re: what fuel do you use?
I've run mine on a few bifferent fuels, mainly Caltex and BP 98 or 95 if I can't get 98. My bum Dyno gives a similar horsepower reading on both but everyones bum Dyno is different.

Re: what fuel do you use?
Bum Dyno = when you get on your bike and it feels like it's going better or worse without any real or accurate actual measurement.
What i was getting at was that everyones opinion on fuels will be different. Some will say that 98 definitely makes a difference, some will say you can't tell, some will say Shell is crap and fouls plugs...well actually nearly everyone says that, although I've never had a problem with Shell when I've had to use it.
My view.....I use the best (ie usually the most expensive) fuel I can get ie 98. I figure for the cost difference in a tank full on a bike it's worth it. I've got a BP and a Caltex around the corner so I use whichever one is in the direction I'm going.

Re: what fuel do you use?
i use bp98
on another note, what are poeples thoughts on octane booster additives, any pro's an cons ???
i have used nulons pro strength octane booster but so many mixed reviews, the bottle says it boosts octane by up to 7 numbers so is that a good thing or can you have too much octane??
sorry for the highjack glen but thought it is relavent.

Glen's senile don't listen to him. It's tuned to run 95. There is no benefit running anything else apart from being a wanker and telling everyone you run 98 cause it's the most expensive and therefore the best. For a ZRX rider, the guy has no fucking brains! I reckon we should make him sell the farker! He's an embarrassment to all the other cool rex riders. Like......umm....like......umm......I'll get back to you.

Re: what fuel do you use?
I have used 98 fuels since the day i got my license, fuel is never that new and I want the maximum safety blanket that even if i have a bad batch of fuel the octane will be high enough to not cause issues with pinging.
My bike is tuned for 98 octane fuel using a custom map to run between 13.5 &13.1 AFR I have no oxygen sensors so rely on the highest octane possible out of the pump.
Also having had a friend with a Nissan stagea with a fuel controller tuned for 95octane get a old batch a fuel from a server and detonate when coming onto boost (20psi) he possibly woudn't of got the issue if he used 98.
Also when my missus had a new toyota echo in 2003 she would put 91 in it and winge it was running crap which it was (missing surging etc) put 95 or 98 in and hey presto smooth as better.
I use the same servo & pump (caltex 98) as this was the same server I tuned my custom map with.
Only difference I have noticed with different brands is Shell V-power stains fuel bowls, they run a additive which causes a yellowing colour, this may have changed but since a year or to ago. In my last job guys who came in for tunes and said "I always use V-power" tended to have the discolouration.
I have never had an issue with 98 fuels as for increased range MEH but 10% Eth in my work car does reduce its range, ohh i happily put 91 10% Eth in my work crummydore cause i dont care about that.
On the Octane additive I used to have a rodeo 2.6 petrol minitruck which had 1 muffler no CAT (light vehicle law) i used to run on 98 and for awesome P plater hero satus used to put 10point octane booster in and holy crap did it used to shot some flames, out past the tray and all HAHAHAHA ahh to be young again.
