2010 ZX10R Starting issue ??

Post by broomie21 »

Hi Guys and Girls,
I have an almost new (only ridden three times) bike that has started first push of the button everytime. Recently I dropped it in gravel of my driveway (not bad just one little mark) and since then it takes two tries to start. Not really a massive problem just annoying when it started so easily.
I make a habbit of starting it every couple of days and since the drop you have to push the button and it turns over then let it go and then push it again which fires it up instantly, but then it seems to idle rough before coming good ????
Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.

THX

As far as i know most gen 3's have this starting issue, especially when an aftermarket exhaust is fitted which ditches the exaust valve.. Try a different fuel, i noticed when i went off the Caltex vortex 98 and onto the BP Ultimate, mine started first time most of the time when i was riding it often.. Now that i only use it once every weekend or 2 it takes 2 tries before she fires up ;)
I wouldnt be to concerned dude, you'll find its a common thing.. Ive read of many people having this issue with the gen 3 on various other forums i frequent :kuda:

I bet you read about that on zx10r.net ;) .

Mine starts first go nearly everytime. Only very occassional do i have the hit the starter twice. I only use BP Ultimate & my bike gets used nearly everyday.
As kawawog said ....i wouldn't be too worried.
