A MOTORCYCLIST and pedestrian are in hospital with serious injuries following a collision at Hove as police appeal for motorists to take extra caution on wet roads.

About 8.30am a motorcycle travelling south on Brighton Rd hit a pedestrian near the intersection of Cecilia St.

Both the motorcyclist and pedestrian were taken to the Flinders Medical Centre with serious injuries.

All southbound traffic is being diverted down Francis St, while traffic travelling north on Brighton Rd is down to one lane.

Police advise motorists to avoid the area if possible.

Emergency service crews also have responded to crashes at Waterloo Corner and Willunga this morning.

The Medstar helicopter was sent to Willunga to retrieve the driver of a car that hit a tree on Range Rd about 6.45am.

The road toll has risen to 92 following the death of a man yesterday on the Dukes Highway near Cookes Plains.

Yesterday, police and emergency service crews attended 22 road crashes across the metropolitan area between 3pm, when showers began, and 9pm.

"Many of those crashes could have easily been avoided by slowing down and allowing a greater braking distance between your vehicle and the car in front," a police spokesman said.

Adelaide has recorded 5.2mm of rain since yesterday afternoon and showers are forecast across the state today.

The Bureau of Meteorology advises a severe thunderstorm warning for destructive wind is current for the North East Pastoral and parts of the Flinders district.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce destructive winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Leigh Creek, Moomba, Marree and Arkaroola.

Wind gusts of 120km/h were recorded at Marree early this morning.
