Renthal ultra lows for ZRX1200r
Renthal ultra lows for ZRX1200r
hi - i have recently purchased a 2008 zrx1200r - a great bike. I find the standard handlebars a bit high - I believe the best easiest solution is Renthal Ultra lows.
Is it possible to source these handlebars in Australia?
It also has a badly leaking fork seal - i went to replace it yesterday, lifted the bike - ready to roll - no tool for undoing the front wheel??? - can you purchase this through Kawasaki?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

Better change your bike in your stats then.
You can get the tool from any bike shop or ebay. You would have to be able to get the bars but I'd say they would need to be ordered in. I don't know why you would want to replace them though, it's not a sports bike so why would you want to make it as uncomfortable as one?

I agree the bars are too high & close, personal choice & body size I guess.
Years on early sportsbikes had me to the point of my wrists aching for the first 6 weeks of ZRX ownership, until I got used to the flat wrist angle required.
Initially you can turn your mount posts (risers) 180' & refit the bars, helps a little, I ended up getting lower bars so you don't get a sore back pushing into the wind all day on trips, also far better on the dragstrip.
You can get drag bars to fit, but you need higher risers to stop them contacting the tank via your thumbs. Try googling Drag Bars
.
I take it you have been searching already & found http://www.zrxoa.org/forums/ , they have lots of info on the bars you speak off.

Re: Renthal ultra lows for ZRX1200r
hi guys thanks for your information.
Errol - I checked Zrxoa - the conversion to ultra lows seems very common, however when I went onto ebay to buy a set - there were two kinds of Ultra lows listed, "Superbike" and "Road" - they are listed by two different business's, maybe just a naming thing, but the same product???
I prefer the lower handlebars - I am used to clipons, but I also prefer the feel of not sitting up so upright. Not trying to make it into a sportbike, just a bike to my liking.........and it is.
I was hoping to source the ultra lows in Australia, has anyone done this conversion?
cheers

I have an 05 ZRX & it has the axel tool in the tool kit. Looks like a plug spanner.

s man - thanks, definitely nothing similar in my tool kit - may have to contact a dealer to see if I can get one.
I am pretty sure the tool kit is complete, it looked unopened, you would think a tool required to remove the front wheel would be included?
thanks

I wouldnt use the POS in the toolkit, lloks like a recipe for skinned knuckles. I got mine from MCAS, http://www.mcas.com.au/_product.php?sec ... rodid=9005nuggetrosie wrote:s man - thanks, definitely nothing similar in my tool kit - may have to contact a dealer to see if I can get one.

If you want lower bars, the Coerce Hyper Low are a good alternative to the Renthals...... http://www.maxmcdirect.com/proddetail.a ... 045NKB04XX
Like everything i guess it all comes down to personal preference and what fits you best.
I find the height and bend on these much better than the stockers

Re: Renthal ultra lows for ZRX1200r
j rex, thanks for the info on the Coerce Hyper Low - do they fit straight on - I believe the Renthal Ultra Lows do not require any changing of cables and do not interfere with the tank?
Do you have these bars fitted to your bike? - any chance of some photos?
Cheers

Pic of the Coerce bars fitted... they're 690mm wide so a little narrower than the Renthals, means all the bar controls are more of a snug fit.
I have no problem with them hitting the tank either..

No worries....probably should mention that they don't have threaded ends (Renthals too i think?) so you need to come up with something if you want to use threaded bar ends or mirrors like mine..
I just ended up cutting the plugs off the original bars and welded them to these, otherwise you can use threaded inserts if you're handy with that type of thing?...
