Oh look, another traffic blitz in Vic

Post by dilligaf »

If you're coming down for the MotoGP be careful.

http://www.vicpolicenews.com.au/more-ne ... tober.html

As part of October operations the 100-member strong State Highway Patrol will be conducting Operation Super Ardent in the top eight high-risk Police Service Areas (PSAs) throughout the month.

They will be joined by local police, members from the Operations Response Unit (ORU) and Road Policing Drug and Alcohol Section in blitzing the Benalla, Mitchell, Wangaratta, Yarra Ranges, Bass Coast, East Gippsland, Ballarat and Moorabool areas.
That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba.... Hunter S. Thompson.

Get over it.
I welcome the police prescence and I applaud the work they do on the roads and in our community.
Should be ALOT more of them so they can do the job properly.
At very least this information has now filtered through to this community. Those that read about the blitz here on the forum may think twice about their actions tomorrow or in the coming weeks. For those that are too stupid or irresponsible then suck it up and tell your story walking.
I got a sweater for my birthday. I realy wanted a moaner or a screamer.

This came as a surprise to whom? MotoGP with thousands of bikes coming from interstate to watch one of the biggest motorsport events in the country over a two week period, what are the chances that you will get a high supply of speeding bikes with a few trying to emulate the event?

It is simple supply and demand, plenty of supply demands the police presence.

What does one expect the police/ government to do? Perhaps wave a chequered flag as they go by ;)

Speed or don't speed, we all know that they are out and about

I wonder how many kittens and small children will be killed or injured by the amount of fender eliminators heading for victoria.
Better clear the emergency wards and all available vets on stand by :P

So they clamp down on motorcyclists, big surprise there.

68% of fatalities happen when one driver pulls in front of another.98% of deaths occur when travelling at the speed limit or below.

If they would bother to train drivers how to drive, and fix the roads this may occur less.If you think the gov cares you are mistaken as they only care about opinion polls.
The heavy handed policing of the speed limits is a knee jerk reaction by lazy and inept officials.

You can't write that  It's that sort of comment that undermines the government propaganda of revenue raising in the name of safety ;)
