Engine Mount Bolts Seized

Post by gazza2008au »

so i bought a bike thats had its engine removed since sometime around 2002 i installed a new engine and noticed 3 of 4 engine mount bolts are stuck these are the bolts that center the engine in the frame not the actual bolts that hold the engine in place how would i go about removing these bolts? they are well and truly seized

WD40 works well if you spray the shit out of it and then use a cigatrette lighter to heat it a bit,
repeat a few times for full penetration :D

worked it out ...... title is wrong  you will need an impact driver as these come from the factory using locktight.
& suggest not using a screwdriver on the locking nut as it will chew the cutaway ;)

rob the bolts are called "engine mount bolts" there a threaded tube that screws in and adjusts the motors position while another bolt goes right thru the adjustable bolt and bolts the engine to the frame

U get those hex 3/8 ratchet Allen keys from an engineering supplier or snap on. That attach straight onto a impact gun

Not rattle gun it could possibly damage the hole, go to a specialty tool supplier or see if you can beg borrow steal an impact driver & tool.
I have a Sidchrome hex set which is 1/2 inch drive, same as my impact driver, starts at 6mm, other larger sizes I have here were bought off the local snap on dude.
