Fake anti virus programs

Post by dilligaf »

Those of us that search images are likely to encounter a trojan through a popup saying your computer is infected and you need to download their antivirus program.
Don't do it!

the latest is the 'Win7 Antivirus' trojan (some call it a virus) its also known as Win XP Anti-virus and Win Vista
Anti-virus ..looks like the real thing, wont go away until you pay the writer (aka the hacker who wrote it)
or...
get the 'killer' program for free - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/downloa ... irus/rkill
then run malwarebytes 'antimalware' free program..it cleans out the dregs

I have had to clear a number of PCs at work with this

this may look real..but it ain't!

Apple finally admits to malware issue

Apple is fighting what security experts say may be the most pernicious types of computer virus to ever target its line of Mac computers.

The company has issued a security advisory warning to customers about a recent scam that infects Macs with malicious software that wrongly tells them their computer is infected with a virus. The ultimate goal is to get credit card numbers and other valuable personal information.

It is one of the first major campaigns that cyber crooks have launched against Mac users. To date, criminals have focused on writing malicious software for machines running Microsoft's Windows operating system, which inhabits more than nine of every 10 personal computers.
