A drunk driver who was arrested for doing burn-outs in Melbourne's north yesterday morning was released from custody only to hop back in his vehicle and do a burn-out in the police station car park, police say.

Officers were astounded at the actions of the 21-year-old driver, who was re-arrested and had his car impounded under hoon legislation.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the Craigieburn man was one of two drunk drivers caught doing burn-outs since yesterday.
In the first incident yesterday morning, police were called to Craigieburn Road where residents said a car was doing burn-outs.
Police arrested the 21-year-old driver and took him to Craigieburn Police Station where he allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of .08. His licence was suspended immediately.
Police allege the man left the police station at 9.45am, but returned a few minutes later and performed a burn-out in the police station car park, before driving away.
The man's car was impounded under hoon legislation and he is expected to be charged on summons with a number of traffic offences, including drink-driving, refusing a breath test and careless driving.
