Anyone seen GPZ750 parts at wreckers?
Anyone seen GPZ750 parts at wreckers?
Starting to get desperate looking for for GPZ750 / GT750 / KZ750 block, heads, pistons (whole topend). Only had one member in NZ send me a message about parts, but I'd prefer to ship inside Australia at least.
Anyone seen a wrecker (or someone) with topend parts (in reasonable nic) for one of these?

Have you tried Findapart yet ? Ebay is also worth keeping an eye on, z750 stuff pops up every now and then. You are better off just getting a complete head & block, and using new a/market pistons - not many 2nd-hand pistons are worth re-using (although you can get lucky from time to time)....
You may need to start ringing wreckers - Penrith Wreckers in Sydney carry a lot of older stuff. Also check my old mate at KawaKing on the south coast of NSW - never know what he has tucked away....

Re: Anyone seen GPZ750 parts at wreckers?
I keep seeing KZ1000/1100 stuff on Ebay but not much KZ750 .. a few complete bikes which have been too far for me to collect and too costly to ship and then strip ..Gosling1 wrote:Ebay is also worth keeping an eye on, z750 stuff pops up every now and then.

if its worth saying once, its worth saying 3 times !
but yeh, Findapart are great. One tip - avoid Show & Go in Adelaide. They rip you off big-time on the postage........

Re: Anyone seen GPZ750 parts at wreckers?
why dont you look at dropping a 900 top end on it?
i mean if your looking at complete top ends or rebuilding one why not go for a tad more power while your at it?
because from memory the 750 900 and 1100 share the same bottom ends but dont quote me on it

The 650 and 750's share a lot of the same engine architecture, and you can turn certain 650 models into 750's easily enough with a top-end swap..........but that is where it finishes for the smaller models. Some of the 650's can't be changed to 750's due to cam-chain design....you can fit big-bore kits to these though - MickLC's 'Silver Surfer' has a 720 kit for example. The largest kit for a 750 motor is the 810cc Wiseco kit.
The 900's and early 1000's have the same bottom ends (well, similiar enough to allow swapping), but the later 1000's have different bottom-ends, and the 1000J and 1100 models are different again from the late 1000's. (Cam-chain design being the biggest difference).
The only thing that the 650/750/900/1000/1100 motors share - is the cylinder bore spacing. You can swap carbies (but need the correct inlet manifolds) between all these models no problem. You can fit an early DFI system (injector rack & butterflies) from an 1100 to a z650 or z750 easily - they bolt straight up.

Re: Anyone seen GPZ750 parts at wreckers?
Yeah .. my 650 is a late model F2 with hy-vo camchain, etc so should interchange with 750 fine.
BTW: I've got a few leads from Find-a-part. Thanks to all!
