A few weeks ago now I was riding back to Bendigo through Heathcote, the boys in Blue were doing breatho's in the middle of the road stopping traffic in both directions.
We pulled up behind 4 cars to wait for our turn and we were gestured to stop in the middle next to their cars, and stop and remove our helmets, we werent doing anything wrong, but after the compulsory breatho and rego check we were offered a Rider Survivor Training course at only 1/3 the normal price.
You had to be sposored by a police officer to get the discount, anyone else been offered this? and has anyone done it?

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

There were 2 bike cops there from Epping, fair way from home.
At least its a positive attempt by the pollies at trying to help educate riders.

sounds like a good idea/
At least they are offering it to people before they have a stack rather than at crash sites after the fact.
Good on em!

Sound like a good idea. You can never get enough training.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Re: Rider Survivor training anyone???
The training I'm supportive of. The delivery method is just yet another delay in my schedule and a too frequent occurrence when riding almost anywhere in Victoria for the last three or more years.
The training should be mandatory for all riders. I would even cop a mandatory annual training course. Provided it delivered a real benefit in rider safety.
You all know my views on it. I now ride a bike far better in terms of braking, handling, suspension, on the same roads, which are in better condition with sometimes improved motorcycle roadside furnishings, on better tyres, wet or dry and the speed limit is 20kph lower. So now speeds comfortable on an evil handling GSX750 with michelin A & M 49's, are no longer safe on a modern motorcycle. The lowering is for one main reason, additional revenue. They know it, we know it, it's been admitted by Ex senior employees. It's spoiling even touring. The amount of times I've been done for 7 or 8 kph in the middle of nothing, just paddocks & fences tells me the plan isn't road safety, but road tax. Fuck em.......
