Took my bike to a Kawasaki dealer today, and asked how much it would cost to get the valve clearance done. He told me $900
Is that the expected price to pay?? I'm really hoping it isn't??
How much did you guys pay for yours (if you get someone to do it for you)
where's that at greenblood? I have seen bigger prices (bigger than 300 that is ) for ye olde parallel twin quoted.. which after having done mine I thought they had a point
hehe maybe they quote high numbers cos they don't wanna do them I def wouldn't pay that much (900) for mine when the whole thing was only a bit more
Yeah, just the valve clearances, not the service. Think i will keep asking around. No way i am paying $900 for it. I am a UNI student, and $900 is alot of fuel for rides
have a read of some online how to's.. there's prolly some vids showing ya what to do as well on youtube n stuff.. a set of feeler gauges n spanners n stuff should be able to be had for < 50 bucks.. if ya got the time to do it
$225 at LAE Geebung Brisbane for my zx9, included was shims, carb balance, plugs and labour.
My zx12 cost under $400 because you have to drop the front engine mounts, rad and headers and is a bitch to do.
Sounds like they don't want to do the work so take all your work elseware, ask around for the best mechanic in town regardless of who they work for and go there

That's at Kelen Kawasaki in Penrith....
Kelens did mine too when I had the rocker cover gasket replaced under warranty. They charged me $100 labour and $20 for shims, I think 2 or 3 were our of spec. Keep in mind the engine had to already been taken apart for the gasket kit replacement so it was cheap because of that.

Shop around......any bike mechanic can do it. Doesn't have to be a kawasaki dealer. I'd be looking for a private bike mechanic if there is one in your local area. Too bad you aren't in brisbane as i could point you in the right direction to a top mechanic who would do it at a fraction of the price you got quoted.
I am not partial to riding to Brisbane to get them done, if you can recommend a good mechanic to take the bike too. Parties in Brisbane are always better anyway
I will keep asking around. I would have a go at doing it myself, but because i live on college away from home, i have no tools or place to do it in.
