first ever electric bike Vs petrol bike race
This is a video of an american guy named chip yates.
He started racing at the age of 36 in 2007 having only ever owned a ZX7R (great bike..lol) road bike for one year. He did one year of club racing, then he turned pro and did then ama 600 and then did one world superbike race in America. Not a bad effort for an old bloke.
He's an engineer and a group of his friends (all engineers) work on the pilot-less helicopter project. So all of them being highly capable electronically, they built this state of the art electric bike with sole aim of matching the performance of petrol bikes. They're pretty smart guys having written all the programming for the power control themselves etc, plus they have the latest unreleased battery technology and they patented a KERS system that they designed for the front wheel of the bike (with the help of Ohlins (they have a KERS on the back wheel as well but that's not a patented system).
In his first race he's up against some twins and larger capacity bikes here but just watch how he catches them on the straights!
The bike weighs 580 lbs which is about 260 kg, it has 194 BHP and 300 ft/lbs of torque.

Re: first ever electric bike Vs petrol bike race
no doubt its one day going to be what everyone rides , dont think ide ever get used to the the lack of sound, would really bring back the field to an evan playing ground, not to many mods you could make i suspect other than frame and breaks.. hhhmmmmm the mind boggles

If you have it under control you don't have enough Power

Imagine having a set of bike peddles built into the frame and having to peddle to help charge the battery packs on longer runs...
