Flood fund

Post by oldman »

One of you members should start a KSRC flood fund where all us riders that are unaffected by the floods can donate to help any members that are getting nailed by this mess. Preferrably someone who will not take the money and buy Jim Beam for themselves. I'm to far away and I would certainly take any money and spend it on women, (my wife) and alcohol. Cheers!

It's certainly a positive idea.

The company I work for is donating $200,000 to the funds, plus is matching employee contributions

As a board member of BMX Victoria, we have decided to donate funds from the forthcoming Track Attack rounds, which should total around $6,000.

If your company is donating $200K the least you can do is mention their name for a free plug. That is a huge donation.

Anyone looking to donate, a good place to start would be here.

You only need a permit if you are collecting money. However, we all here being friends would simply be giving money to a particular friend, for no reason whatsoever. That friends would feel the right thing to do is give the money to charity. Once money has been given to the friend, you could post up here the amount. Or PM the friend and ask him/her to post the amount if you wish to remain annonymous. Then, if said friends decides to donate, it would a simple matter to check with the charity whether the correct amount had been paid. That's if you were the mistrusting types.

Also, seeing as BP seems to wanna match us, we would be in fact donating double :kuda:

Well if you are sufficiently close and want to donate time/muscle, or if you do need a helping hand then http://fightthefloods.com is a place to register to provide or request help, i don't know how successful it is, but the more people that register the better it will be for those involved.

Fuck I love my work.

We've been given an extra 100k to spend on our local community over the next month to help individuals and groups out.

We are paying our team to go down the hill and help with the clean up in work hours, and also providing counselling for the volunteers who need it.

Then the big knobs have just tipped in a cool $1million. Absolute legends.

Then we are working on some long term projects to help the communities that have been absolutley oblitterated.

I love the the big green shed.
It is far better to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even if chequered with failure, than to take rank with those who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, as they live in grey twilight that knows no victory nor defeat.
