Light weight batteries.!

Post by MadKaw »

Ed on TrakDaze is selling some lightweight batteries, same as the speedcell ones, if anyones interested.
There about 3 kilos lighter than the stockers.
I have a similar one in my bike (from another supplier) and certainly agree with the weight saving.. Mine may not be so good as it does struggle a little on cold mornings, its fine after that though.. These may be better cells...

Hey Dave,

You may have cranking issues because
a) your pack may be made using old cells as opposed to new cells
b) your bike is not charging correctly
c) your pack is too small - for race 1000cc with stock charging gear and stock engine 8 cell should be enough (though for colder weather application go 1 size up)

Shelf life on these is 10% overall loss per year (ie leaving it unused - so much better then a matt lead battery)

For total loss use a bigger pack or 1000cc plus use 12 pack for 1400cc ie; ZX14 use 16 cell

I pulled apart my leight weight battery (that I use on my RAD02 1080cc DS racebike) to suss out the make up

It's an 8 cell 4.6Ah 240A 10 sec discharge, 120A continues discharge. Weight is 640gr as opposed to OEM 3.5kg

I also have 12 cell 6.9Ah, 360A CCA for 10 sec with 180A continues

and 16 cell 9.2Ah 480 CCA for 10 sec and 240A continues (basically for ZX14, hi-power race bikes that run total loss)

Made from new A123 LifePo4 cells, and come with connectors.

$200, $275, $340 AUD delivered worldwide.

Yep, the problem with mine is old cells (just like the owner.. :-) ).. its an 8 cell pack but its been around a while, I believe..
It does the job and I would recommend this style of battery..

I am in Brissie and it's on the shelf pick up for locals and express post elsewhere. Sorry to hear you got burnt. Thats why I do all my stuff myself, no middle men, no fuss, of the shelf in the postpack and everyone's good. PM me for phone number and address if you are worried. Cheer Ed ....... 2 cylinders are all you need......hey Dave
