Nature's wrath

Post by javaman »

I rode around this mountain 4 years ago

It was a beatiful day with beautiful sight and blue skies. It even made it to TwoWheels photo page!

But for the past few days the story was different. It erupted and taken casualities.

This mountain is a mere 30km from my hometown. That pyroclastic flow is thousands of degrees in temperature and rolling down the slopes at 100kph. There is no escape for the people who live off the land in the area (which is very fertile due to the mentioned ash).

They say the mountain takes lives away. But also giving it continously.

I've not been on the Mainland, but it looks very similiar to some of the larger Islands Andi. It always amazes me, how over time, humans learn to live with imposing dangers like that. They grieve but at the same time accept, the losses associated with it. Sighting the benefits as justifyable.

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?

Indeed. That is too something we can relate with our hobby albeit that one is for excitement purposes (or is it?)

This is a video footage of the area. Not graphic, but still cannot unsee.

Something I would love to see...from a safe distance.
Makes you realise how truly insignificant and powerless we really are
