More Yoshi R55 on 08 ZX10R

Post by valkau »

I bought an R55 as a result of relatively cheap price, cut -off looks and Kawawog's strong plug for it. I've now had the chance of using it to PI and back and just luurrve the sound and looks. It's just a slip-on but I have enough trouble getting into the green and keeping my licence anyway. The appalling 15% speedo error intiially stopped me being too agressive but know that I know - it's a worry because the sound is addictive - more/more. A couple of pics - note the flush rear indicators. I like the look but they're too faint. Anyone know of other bright LED rear flush aftermarkets?
Cheers

Very noice dude.. I recon this pipe suits the bike's shape so well.. If you ever get bored of the sound and want it louder, add the akrapovic link pipe aswell and then you'll know what a really sweet sound is, especially in the higher rpm
As for the speedo issue, why not buy a speedohealer v4? Ive got one on its way atm, as im going to be changing my final drive ratio with a 520 17-43t conversion kit ;)

It's cheaper to buy a 16t front sprocket. No need for a 520 chain on the road. Better life in a 525

Looks good mate. Re your blinkers have you considered an integrated brake/blinker. I've got one on the Crim and it's as bright as. Slightly illegal I'm sure but I haven't had any drama's yet. Steve at Rated R does them.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

The reason i didnt go a 16t front is because ive heard it puts more stress on the front shaft, and also because ive been told that -1 on the front is equivilent to +3 on the back and i didnt wana go that extreme..
As for the chain, i couldnt find a kit with a 525chain from the particular supplier i went through.. And going off measurements of the stock 525 on my bike now, and the new 520 chain, the new one has larger pins, thicker side plates and its rated at just over 9000lbs tensile strength..
So hopefully ill get some good life out of it reguardless of its smaller size :P

wasnt a shot at you mate just observation.

never heard anything of the sort regarding -1 tooth stressing the front shaft though. More extreme drops yes but not one tooth.

If he gets a 16t 525 sprocket the your upgrade costs him $15-20 max instead of what you spent. No amount of extra life is going to outweigh that saving ;)

All good Mr Blurr, i didnt see it any other way :P
The whole 520 kit cost me $211 AUD delivered from the US.. And that was for 2 vortex steel sprockets, and a EK 520MVXZ chain :kuda:

Hey Saki - how loud is loud? I don't consider this is loud although I wouldn't want to hit the throttle in front of Mr Plod. It gives a deeper than stock burble in town and turns into a much louder and higher pitch whine under fast acceleration and high speed cruising on the open road.
