e-tags - How do you mount? Roam Express
What is the correct way to mount an etag to a motorcycle?
Recieved a update to roam express's terms and conditions today
which is now saying they will start to charge on the M2 if a tag is not mounted properly(ie:tag doesn't register).
These changes include two new fees which will apply if you travel without a valid tag correctly mounted in your vehicle or if you are charged a toll and your account has insufficient funds to cover that toll.
• No Tag Fee – $0.55 (including GST)
Applies if you use the Hills M2 without carrying a tag, do not have your tag correctly mounted or if your account has insufficient funds at time of travel.

You can't just put your plate on your account? That's lame...

Re: e-tags - How do you mount?
I've always just gone off the fact that it gets billed due to rego number on the account.
But this latest update to terms and conditions *may* allow them to charge...
On phone currently (on hold for last 30 mins), to try and get confirmation on what they're going to do about motorcycles whose tags will always be reported as 'broken' all the time if they persist in charging.

After getting off the phone:
Apparently, It will continue to work on number plate and NOT charge the new fee as long as the number plate is registered in the Roam Express account as a motorcycle. Which means calling roam, as there is no access via the web login to do this.

I have the RTA tag, with bike and car on it - never have it on the bike 'cause it's mounted in the car.
They just pick up the plate and bill it with no charges.

Re: e-tags - How do you mount? Roam Express
hmmm im just reading the roam express FAQ page it says
#9 Why do I need to give you my vehicle registration numbers?
If your tag fails to operate for any reason then a photograph will be taken of your vehicle. If we have your registration details we can then make sure your Roam Express e-TAG Account is correctly charged for that trip without having to issue you a toll violation notice.
Havent read the 500pg PDF for the full conditions yet though

Yeah,
That's why i rang them yuesterday-as the conditions change was talking about tag "not being mounted correctly"(and how that is argued from a legal sense is beyond me). It basically adds a charge to the way it had always been (ie: the numberplate still allowed charge to be put on account, but this change is only for the M2)
But then...
Did you get the conditions update notice? .... or am i victim of internet spam/a nicarguan money laundering scam?

Re: e-tags - How do you mount? Roam Express
I just opened a ROAM account last week and received my tag and all the info .
It states that for a motorcycle the rego just needs to be linked to your account and no matching fees etc will be added.
I have not received any update.

That's exactly the situation i have with my bike(s).6maniac wrote:I have the RTA tag, with bike and car on it - never have it on the bike 'cause it's mounted in the car.

Tag in the car, not even mounted mind you. and it still works.
