Z650 Clutch cable
Ive gone through 2 clutch cables in 12 months? Do I have the tension to tight on the clutch? Any tricks to set the clutch? Cheers!

Re: Z650 Clutch cable
no tricks really - just set it up as per the manual. Maybe someone else fitted some h/d springs to the clutch in a previous life ? Normally, clutch-cables should have a lifespan of at least 5 years, as long as the inner gets a bit of lube every now and then, and you lube the nipple at the lever end......this is where most of them break.

Thanks Gosling will give it good lube this time. Not sure about the springs might be clutch seems to have a lot of meat still. If it happens again Ill pull it apart and have a look...very last option not keen to pul it he bugger apart.

Re: Z650 Clutch cable
My clutch cable is cable-tied to my left down tube but not very tightly. I found that if its locked tightly in position the clutch-lever was very stiff but now its a breeze.

Re: Z650 Clutch cable
while you are doing that - have a look at the adjuster in that area - sometimes the lower cable run can get water in it.......and the lower section of the cable gets pretty skanky.

Re: Z650 Clutch cable
Bingo TX MT opened the old cable it was rusty as in the guts looks like water did get in, the outside looked good as. Ive lubed the new cable hopefully that will repel some of the water out.
