old slicks n wets....any good?

Post by ventura01 »

Hey all,
When I bought my ZXr 400 a couple of years ago from melbourne and had it shipped to Adelaide, the bloke who sold it had some semi used slicks and a set of wets that have done little work (still have rubber nipple things all over em!). Since the tyres couldnt be shipped with the bike my brother in law living in Melbourne grabbed the tyres and stuck them in his shed. I only managed to get them here a month or so back, as we cant use em in racing in SA (brackets for me treaded tyres only) I wasnt to interested in putting them on.
So my question is since these slicks are used and been sitting around a while would they be useless for track work now? and if they are ok what sort of money would be reasonable for them?
Thanks

If the wets have gone hard they will be pretty much useless. I got an old set from Bogan, they'd been in the sun and were rock hard. They were good enough to let me get out and circulate and get some points for finishing, but I was wobbling round the corners completely upright. I wasn't confident on them at all, so I chucked them out and got a new set.
