Cold Seiko??

Somewhere between Warrnambool and Geelong is a very cold Seiko1.

He decided to come visit me here this afternoon and left Geelong at about 1230ish after fixing a minor problem regarding a flat battery in the 14.
He got here sometime around 3:00 this afternoon (which is when i finished work anyway) allready complaining about how cold he was. Poor bugger.
After a warm coffee, a couple of bourbons, another warm coffee, and crappy pizza for tea he left my humble abode, again worried about how cold it would get.

Apparently its the first time in a couple of months the 14 has gone anywhere and, he is now experiencing driving the bike with the highbeams on for the first time since owning the bike.

All going well he should be home in a couple of hours from now but then again...................he might be making a few extra stops to warm up!!
Could be worse. Instead of being fucking cold, it could be fucking cold and fucking wet.

Brr, i remember riding up the Kings Highway in mid June a few years ago in full winter gear (except for slightly shoddy gloves) after dark and having to stop every 20 minutes to warm my gloved hands on the muffler. Certainly am considering the virtues of heated grips in the near future.

The coldest trip I ever did was from Anarchy Road back up to Newcastle in the middle of winter - in fact it would have been right around now, but 25 years ago ! I was on a mates brand-new GPz750 which he had let me borrow for the weekend........and I made the huge mistake of leaving here around 10pm at night after a few too many bunters , and only wearing racing leathers with SFA underneath

I rode from along Lake George looking for semi-trailers to draft along behind ! the draft was nice and warm, and this worked really well until we hit any sort of climb.... - I couldn't plug along at 80-90kmh, so would belt out and look for another semi ! This continued until Sydney, at which point the temperature was a lot more bearable, even at 1am in the morning.....

Coldest ride ever. Will never do that again....

Just got a message from the man. He's stopped for, get this, a hot chocolate!! He is in Colac ATM and is warming up in a servo while his gloves warm up next to the engine on the bike.

I only replaced the 9.5 year old battery in the 9 before an (the il fated Kangaroo trip) Island trip - paranoia got the better of me, it was still working fine.

hmmm..reminds me of a Reefton spurs trip I did ...maybe 7-8 years ago just aftyer I got the 12r
started off fine and sunny at the bottom in Marysville and the fog that appeared half way up should have been a warning
...of the soft white stuff that started floating down as I went over the top heading towards Camberville

it was cold obviously but as I had thermals on and also decent riding gear didnt really feel it.

Just found this thread but I've already had a moan on a few other threads
I've never had cold toes on a bike b4 but mine were aching bad by the time I got in.
Fingers? What fingers...once you break through the pain barrier you lose sensation altogether
Visor fogging was the big problem, speeding up to hasten the trip just increased the chill factor and I was actually thinking
how nice it would be to come off on black ice because the rash and running blood would be so
nice and warm
Danny Glover came to mind as well .....'I'm too old for this shit"!!!!
Temp in Geelong City was 3 degrees so I assume it was 1 or 2 out in the sticks and it was a 2 1/2 hr trip
Next visit will be in Mid Summer Dutch
