camo police in La Trobe valley now

Post by dilligaf »

Will it never end? (Edit. It's where some of us go to play with all the police pressure on the spurs/yarra ranges)

Covert police target speeding riders

ARMED with radars and nestled low among clusters of bushes, traffic police dressed in camouflage gear are cracking down on rogue motorcyclists travelling at dangerously high speeds across the Latrobe Valley.

As part of a covert operation, Latrobe Traffic Management Unit police position themselves, and a radar, in bushland along roads notorious for speeding motorcyclists.

Once an offence is detected, the camouflaged members radio a police unit stationed further down the road to intercept the offender.
That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba.... Hunter S. Thompson.

It will end when they have forced every motorcyclist off the road I reckon, not before, not happy about them clamping down but not surprised really, motorcycle fatalities in Vic are way to high already for the year.

So what's your point? Do you actually think this is new? And whats the problem anyway?

The simple FACT is that the road system is the single biggest killer in our society apart from heart disease and cancer. There is no real or logical debate over this. It comes with the territory if you want to ride bikes on the road. They are apart of our "sport". You will find that the police services target areas based on statistics. If they bother to set up a camera there, then obviously people are not playing fair. It will either be the result of fatalities or sustained complaints by the public. If the complaints are sustained then clearly there are either a large number of offenders or repeat offenders who frequent this road. For the public to complain also means that the public is obviously present when bikers are "playing". By your own admission, you ride there aswell. So maybe you have personally contributed to this. ;)

The way i see it, you have four options.
1. Grow up and behave yourself out there
2. Go further out and look a bit harder for quiet roads - they are out there.
3. Spend a bit of cash a get into some form of track riding. (there are many cheap and thrilling forms like
buckets etc)
4. If the first three options don't suit you, refer back to option one.

But above all else, don't post this shit on our forum and attract attention to us. Do you really think you'll change anything? Traffic cops are members of many forums, including ours and black spur racing etc etc. And they watch ;) Trust me on this one.

It is far better to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even if chequered with failure, than to take rank with those who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, as they live in grey twilight that knows no victory nor defeat.

Oh, and don't let the QLD state on my profile confuse you. I am from Melbourne originally and rode in the Yarra valley, on the spurs, christmas hills, GOR, Buller, and even Arthure's seat for years. After 4 license loses, one dead mate and a mate in a coma 4 months, I grew up. 8)

rant over. :kuda: sorry guys.

how is sitting in camo clocking a guy speeding and then sending the ticked to him 2 weeks after his funeral gonna do anything?
if they actually gave a shit about how many people died they would be visible and driving around in flouro cars keeping peoples speed down. But wait, that might reduce speeding related deaths and therefore speed cameras would be redundant.... definately cant have that :x
Let the good times roll.

r.e. the one in the Nasho, it's sounding a bit tempting to go there during a 'quiet day' with a set of secateurs and do a bit of "tidying up"
