Hey guys
I took 09 ninja (900km odo) for a test ride today, before I got to the test ride stage, the cold start was rather bad; it took a number of attempts (even with choke) to kick over. I let it idle for 5 minutes once started, turned it off, re-started; kick over issue returned. Repeated the process, let it warm for 5 minutes took it for a 10 minute ride, turned it off & it started okay.
The bike appeared to have not been riden in a while as it was rather dusty sitting in the garage and there was less than 1/4 tank of fuel left.
Do you think its the battery, fuel gone bad or is cold start a known issue with these bikes?
Other than this & a loose chain; we couldnt find any other fault with the bike. It is due for its 1k service shortly.
Cheers

Re: Ninja 250R cold start
Bike batteries in general drain fairly quickly in the cold, especially if they haven't been ridden in a while, as you indicated. Always handy to have a charger

Re: Ninja 250R cold start
I would hazard a guess that its either fuel going bad or battery that just needs some time on a charger or regular kicking over. If the rest of the bike is fine and you can negotiate the $200 odd bucks for the service as part of the price its a good honest LAMS bike! Good Luck

Re: Ninja 250R cold start
Service due was used as a part of the negotiation, the cold start appears to be due to a lack of riding; she's starting first go now.
Cheers.
