Moving home

Post by StuMiller »

Hi all,

I'm in the process of planning a move from Melbourne to Hobart and I'm looking for the safest and most cost effective way to move my track bike.

One removalist said they would build a crate for $300 and move it......

Anyone else done this and can suggest perhaps a faster, cheaper, better way?

Cheers!

I used MTL to move my bike from Melb to Adelaide, was $400 or thereabouts, they crated and shipped it. Your call but I reckon better off getting a motorcycle specialist (or yourself) to crate the bastard if you go that way.

stop by a bike shop and ask to take one of their preloved crates for a similar sized bike off their hands?

Costs a fortune to take a trailer on the ferry...thought about taking the bike down last trip but something like $400 each wat extra for the trailer. A van or ute is cheaper.
