ZX9r Forks into 95 ZX6r ?

Post by IsleofNinja »

Prob posted many times before..

Want to know if the 2000 ish model ZX9 front end is interchangeable/an upgrade for the 95ZX6r?? Thinking forks , calipers triples etc . Headstock the same??
Looks identical by the eyemeasurometer apart from pretty anodised preload adjusters
Also , does anyone know why the ZX9 went away from USD forks ie 95 vs 2000?? seems strange..
Got another 'basket case' to play with so if I have to replace bits they are gonna be replaced with the good stuff.

Cheers

USD forks are considerably heavier, i imagine that would be the main reason to change to conventional. I dont imagine the extra performance from USD forks would justify the weight gain on a bike that is fairly road focused.

As for interchange-ability, no idea at all. If you have both in front of you, you could just jump in and have a crack.

you should tune your forks for the correct altitude first before changing them willy nilly..
